Dambai (O/R) July 30, GNA- Mr Joshua Gmayenaam Makubu, the Oti Regional Minister has commended Dr Osei Kuffour Affreh, the Oti Regional Health Director of Health Service for his commitment and positive attitude of changing the face of healthcare and facilities in the region.
The Minister applauded the health professionals’ staff for their sacrificial service towards work, Municipal and District Health Directorates and healthcare delivery in the Oti Region.
He made the remarks when World Health Organization (WHO) Country Representative to Ghana, Professor Francis Kasolo and his delegation visited him at the Oti Regional Coordinating Council (ORCC) to interact with Frontline health workers in the Krachi East Municipality.
Mr Makubu addressing the UN develop partners emphasized how some Persons Living with Disability (PWDS) have experienced discrimination.
He said many PWDs in Ghana face multiple inequalities in their daily life which deepens discrimination and reinforces the vicious cycle of poverty.
He stated that when PWDs did not have access to health and education, they would not have future opportunities for employment, which would affect their ability to participate in development on an equal footing.
Professor Kasolo, WHO Country Representative to Ghana appreciated health indicators sighted on most of the facilities visited in the region.
He noted how WHO housing and health guidelines aimed at informing housing policies and regulations at the national, regional, and Local level and are further relevant in the daily activities of implementing actors who are directly involved in the construction of housing in ways that influence health personnel.
He assured smooth collaboration between WHO and other policy makers and joined efforts across all government levels to promote healthy housing in the Municipality.
The delegation interacted with Krachi East Municipal Health Directorates, Regional Coordinating Council, Frontline Health Workers, Opinion leaders to ascertain problems hindering in their works of operations. Most of the Health Directorates presented health indicators both their performance and poor challenges which passionately appealed to WHO for quick intervention.
