The National Commission for Civic Education (NCCE) has marked this year’s Independence Day celebrations with a quiz competition for students at selected Junior High Schools (JHS) in the Yunyoo/Nasuan District in the North East Region.
The quiz focused on the country’s Independence amongst other social issues, and the participating schools were Yunyoo JHS, Jimbali JHS and Mongul JHS.
Yunyoo JHS emerged as winners, followed by Jimbali JHS and Mongul JHS came third, and they all received prizes such as books and pens to enhance learning.
Mr Peter Dubik, Human Resource Manager, Ghana Education Service, Yunyoo/Nasuan District, who represented the District Director of Education, advised students to take their lessons serious to excel.
He cautioned them against indulging in drugs and other deviant behaviours and said such acts would not augur well for their well-being.
He commended the NCCE for the initiative and said it had exposed the students to facts about the country’s Independence struggle.
