Accra, Aug. 01 – A delegation of eleven members, led by Mr. Sylvester Turner, Mayor of Houston, Texas, USA, recently paid a courtesy visit to the Mayor of Accra, with the aim of exploring opportunities for trade and investment collaboration. The delegation’s eight-day visit to Ghana is focused on strengthening political ties between Houston and Ghana while exploring avenues for mutually beneficial partnerships.
Mr. Sylvester Turner expressed his commitment to furthering the relationship between the two cities in various sectors. The delegation comprises representatives from diverse fields, including the Texas Medical Center, Houston Port Authority, Houston Airport System, Technology and Innovation Sector, General Business Community, Energy Sector, and Houston Sports Authority. With a focus on establishing win-win relationships, they are keen to leverage each other’s strengths for the mutual benefit of both cities.
Mayor Elizabeth Kwatsoe Tawiah Sackey of Accra commended the decision to collaborate and emphasized the potential for joint ventures in arts, culture, tourism, investment, and education, among other areas. She highlighted the Accra Assembly’s dedication to empowering women, children, and individuals with disabilities, and their efforts to protect the environment. To reinforce the importance of addressing climate change, the city is set to install a climate clock in the Central Business District, urging everyone’s support to keep the city clean and beautiful.
