According to eyewitnesses, the unfortunate incident occurred on Wednesday, February 19, 2025, around 2100 hours, when customs officials pursuing a Mercedes-Benz with registration number GC 3361-14, discharged a bullet, to stop the get-away car, attempting to evade arrest.

The officers tried to stop the evading vehicle, and opened fire, which shattered the rear windshield of the car, but the bullets hit the district engineer, identified as Alex, in the left upper arm, who was standing by the roadside, waiting to board a vehicle to Accra.

The victim was immediately rushed to the Comboni Hospital, where he is currently receiving medical treatment.
