Beijing, Aug. 01 – China is currently hosting an intensive exchange program for more than 80 journalists from 49 countries in its capital, Beijing. The four-month program, spanning five continents, aims to promote practical cooperation between Chinese media and foreign media outlets. Organized by China’s Public Diplomacy Association under the auspices of the China International Press Communication Centre (CIPCC), the initiative focuses on strengthening news exchanges and deepening friendship between China and other nations.
Mr. Yu Lei, Director of CIPCC, stressed the importance the Chinese government places on the role of media in facilitating effective cooperation between China and the rest of the world. The program intends to provide participants with direct contact with Chinese operations and offer a comprehensive understanding of China, enabling them to portray an accurate picture of the country to their audiences back home. Previous programs have successfully enhanced participants’ knowledge of Chinese development, culture, and society, leading to improved media coverage of the country.
Through the Renmin University of China, the program offers lectures on China’s politics, economy, diplomacy, history, society, and culture. Additionally, participants have the opportunity to undergo internships in China’s media, engage in symposiums with relevant governmental departments, enterprises, think tanks, and media organizations, and visit selected provinces for media coverage. The program also includes language learning and socialization elements, and participants will receive certificates upon completion.
The journalists expressed enthusiasm about the program, pledging to delve deeper into China’s socio-economic development and share their experiences and insights with their respective audiences. Established in 2014, the CIPCC serves as a platform for journalists and media personnel worldwide to gain in-depth knowledge about China’s culture, facilitating accurate and informed reporting on the country. To date, the program has benefited over 300 countries, fostering global media collaboration.
