Accra, July 18, GNA – The Israeli Green Innovation Competition (IGIC), by the Israeli Embassy in partnership with the Ghana Garden and Flower Movement returns with the aim of empowering young innovators.
The Competition initiated by Strategic Communications Africa Limited (Stratcomm Africa), was established in 2019 to recognise and celebrate the exceptional efforts of young individuals and organizations in Ghana driving innovative solutions to advance environmental conservation and agriculture.
A statement issued in Accra Stratcomm Africa said the Competition was to promote Israel’s renowned strengths in agriculture and innovation and stimulate the growth of these sectors in Ghana.
It said Israel’s commitment to innovation and agriculture was unrivalled, making her an inspiration for people all over the world.
The statement said the Competition epitomised the synergy between the two fields by focusing on startups in the agriculture and horticulture sectors.
“This competition aligns perfectly with Israel’s mission to stimulate innovation and support the advancement of agriculture in Ghana, contributing to sustainable development and economic growth,” it added.
Madam Shlomit Sufa, the Israeli Ambassador to Ghana, Liberia and Sierra Leone said, “The Israeli Green Innovation Competition does not only reward innovativeness, but it also seeks to inspire and encourage young Ghanaians to embrace innovation and actively participate in the agricultural and horticultural sectors.
“By supporting the ideas of the youth and providing a platform for their voices to be heard, the Israeli Embassy aims to create employment opportunities for the youth and enable them to impact their communities positively,” she added.
Ms. Esther Cobbah, the CEO of Stratcomm Africa and the Ghana Garden and Flower Movement convener said “We are proud of our four-year partnership with the Israeli Embassy in Ghana for the Green Innovation Competition.
“Through the competition, we have seen such great talents among young Ghanaians. Together we can push ourselves to innovate and find sustainable solutions to develop our nation. We appreciate the continued commitment of the Israeli Embassy to this competition.”
The competition offers prizes to propel the winners towards success. The top-performing participants each year are rewarded with a fully paid trip to Israel, where they have the singular opportunity to participate in industry-related conferences, meetings, and excursions.
The immersive experience would enable the winners to learn best practices, forge valuable connections, and explore potential investment into their businesses.

Young innovators and entrepreneurs in Ghana, with groundbreaking ideas and solutions in agriculture and horticulture, are invited to display their talents and have a chance to win exciting prizes.
